HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT ENCRYPTION, NO? WELL YOU SHOULD NOW.

In the digital age, where leaks, hacks and online fraud is no more of a surprise, people needed to safeguard their online details they send to each other. 

But with today's unpredictable events and hyper-advancements in Technology, this whole password-protection idea seems a little bit janky and less protected.

So what's next? Encryption is.

This would be really wrong if I told that encryption is new, as it is around from the mid 80s but most of the people have just heard it's name.

Though it might not be sorcery but is a really cool thing to learn about.

What in the world is exactly Encryption?

To put it simple, suppose you are a magician and you want to send a box full PS4 games to your friend who is a magician too.

But here is the catch, you want that only your friend can see what's inside the box (PS4 games) and every other person, when seeing in the box (if they open it), will see random garbage which is of no use.

So to make that happen, you made a special Key, which when used to open the box will show show the real content (PS4 games) while every other method to open the box, will show only garbage.

Now you can send a copy of the key to your friend and hence your friend, can enjoy those games.

This is the best definition of Encryption I can ever write!

Though it might not be most accurate one but I am pretty sure it explains the concept well.

Encryption are of 2 types.

1. Private Key Scheme (Symmetric Cryptography)


In this method, the key for encrypting is the same key for decrypting the message. 

Simply put, the key used by you to lock the box is the same key used by  your friend to open it.

This type of encryption is good but not very safe as hacker or cryptographers do only need to crack one key and then they are done.

2. Public Key Scheme (Asymmetric Cryptography)

Here the Key used to encrypt the message is not the same key used to decrypt the message.

Simply put, You used a key to lock the box with PS4 games and then threw it away. Now you made a Magical formula and send it to your friend along with the box.

Now, your friend made a separate key according to the formula you send him and then opened the box with it.

Although in real-life, both the Keys are made simultaneously and is used then.

This mode of encryption is much more secure than the previous one as an intervening hacker would need to crack 2 keys in order to Alter and then Open the message.

Conclusion

So Encryption is the locking (or encoding) of information in such a way that only those people having access can open/use it and others don't.
Private key encryption is secure but the Public key encryption is the best.
